Reggio Inspired – TODDLER TEACHER (Lake Forest Park/Shoreline)

Lake Forest Park Whizz Kids Academy is searching for a seasoned toddler teacher with inquiry-based emergent curriculum experience interested in joining a dedicated and progressive team in a full-time co-teaching capacity working with children ages 2-3.

Our philosophy is inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, incorporating an emergent curriculum in a child centered environment exploring through the Project Approach. Teachers are committed to observation and documentation, reflecting children’s work back to them in the classroom, as well as online through PortfolioMyDay with daily teacher feedback, photoboards and learning stories for parents, friends, and family.

Whizz Kids Academy is a NAEYC accredited early learning program providing an environment and community where children 1 through 5 years of age develop foundational social and emotional values and skills as they grow to be competent, confident and compassionate citizens of the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
.Follow an emerging curriculum based on children’s interests, choices, and developmental themes creating a learning environment that invites exploration and bringing meaningful discovery.
.Provide developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) activities for physical, cognitive, social/emotional and language development
.Observe, document and assess children’s learning in order to support each child’s greatest potential.
.Build relationships and seek partnerships with families.
.Work with adults and children from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Education is available for teachers who do not meet these qualifications- all interested candidates are encouraged to apply!
AA Degree in Early Childhood Education, (or related field) or working towards ECE w/minimum of 25 credits
2+ years working with children in an early learning setting
1+ years working with a Reggio inspired emergent curriculum and “making learning visible”
Proven initiative, accountability and dependability
Interest in continued personal and professional growth
Passion for the early learning field and demonstrated success
